That big purple dinosaur

Isla doesn't watch alot of Barney but I like it when she does because they sing alot of the 'old' kid songs that I knew as a child. The one song she loves from Barney and that we've started singing every night before bed is the 'Barney Song'.  I don't know the real song name but that's what we call it. She sounds a bit gravelly as she's had a bad cold and cough for the last few weeks so trust me when I say it's not a Larne accent as so many Facebook tried to tell me!!  :-) She's our little performer and will never disappoint an audience!

Three Years Old!

Image
Our 'baby' turned 3 yesterday!  This is the first year she knew what it meant to have a birthday and wanted to wear her birthday hat.  She knew she was going to be 3 and knew her birthday was in February.  She really wanted..... ... a 'bue buttefly' birthday cake!  We celebrated on the 16th rather than the 17th as Colin wasn't going to be home yesterday.  He didn't get to see her until 10:00 pm when he came home and was able to give her a kiss on the cheek while she slept. We made our Wednesday coffee day into a little party for her  and she had such a good time there was no time to nap.  Oma with 'her birthday girl' A rare photo of me with 'my birthday girl' She loved blowing out candles!  I think we lit it and turned off the lights about eight times, literally.  More to come on Saturday when Aunt Lynne and Uncle Jim come to celebrate with us if she can hold out for 'bue buttefly' cake a bit longer. Happy Birthday sweet I

... we had immigration news! Colin recieved the FBI Certificate (clear, no record, phew) which was promptly forwarded to Immigration Canada by the not-so-prompt Canada Post...  Next step, Permanent Residence. The next day he received the Work Permit!  ..... we went to the Rockton World's Fair ! I get a kick out of that name.  If you blinked you'd be through Rockton...  Hardly known to the world... But anyways, it was fun.   It's been years since I was last there and it hasn't changed a bit.  Everything is in the same place. The giant pumpkin contest is neat to see... I think this one was over 700lbs... (the pumpkin, not Isla) Even though we live on a horse farm, she LOVED the sheep, especially BLACK sheep ;-) .... Isla turned 32 months on Sunday.  Four more months and she's 3! For the record (unofficially) she's 29.8 lbs and 36.5 inches tall.  Petite, funny, sweet, active and oh so beautiful! We were at the park this morning to play in the leaves an

... now back to the rest of the days dealings.... ATTENTION all those who think Isla can do NO wrong: See this - my plants all over the sofa and floor.. I didn't do it, the cat was outside and didn't do it... So who do you think did it? Yup, this sweet little darling! Did I mention she went crazy with a blue crayon  all over the doors and furniture this morning while I was in the shower? Not as angelic as some seem to think, huh?

Happy October!

I like this time of year....  It's cool, no humidity, the leaves are turning pretty colours and lots of pumpkins... Colin doesn't like it.  Everything is dying and leaves have to be raked up.  Ok, raking leaves is no fun but seriously, it's so refreshing to walk outside... Take a peak: I found a local farmer with a huge field of pumpkins.  She loved running around it and getting all muddy.  I don't care, she had fun and we picked three pumpkins: Daddy pumpkin, Mommy pumpkin and Isla pumpkin!   Oma came with us which made it more fun! The last time Colin was in the UK, he was fortunate enough to go visit family in Ireland for a weekend - yes, one advantage to being separated - and of course he couldn't resist buying something for Isla.  Here she is modelling:  Daddy went to Ireland and all I got was this goofy rugby hat and lovely tshirt! Relaxing together in the warm sun.  I think Colin was taking advantage of the sun as he knew he wasn't  going to see

Summer Update - Edition 1

Image
Wow, it's been so long since my last post that I almost forgot my blogger log in!! So what's up? Well, first off, a visa update.  A huge weight has been lifted and another prayer answered! Colin qualifies for Canadian permanent residence. YAY - but he can't get the visa yet because we don't have a clear FBI Clearance Certificate.  We have applied for it and praying that we get it within the six weeks Immigration Canada says it takes and not the "up to" 12 weeks the FBI website says it could take.  A bit of stress again as we have to provide it by October to IC and Colin couldn't get his fingerprints done in Brazil which we needed done before we could apply.  Worst case scenario is that we provide a letter explaining the situation but I trust everything will work out in perfect time and we can be a (normal) family unit again by the fall. Isla is doing well.  A month ago she was still 28 lbs but she is getting taller all the time. I was at the mall toda

Happy Canada Day (& other stuff)

Happy 143rd (belated) Birthday Canada! You've aged well and I'm so glad we finally get to celebrate with you! May you always remain glorious and free! In other news, Colin is away again.  We dropped him off at the airport last evening and then proceeded to have a teary ride home.  We hope and pray we are nearing the end of the wait for the visa (with favourable outcome of course) and it can't come soon enough.  In the meantime, we are the three muskateers at home - Isla, Pearl and me.  Yes, just us three. While Colin was home, our other furry girl, Dixie, went missing.  We haven't seen her for a week and a half and we miss her so much.   Each time we are outside we call for her and as we drive up and down the road, I'm always scanning the ditches and the corn field for any sign of her.  If you're not a cat person, keep your thougths to yourself - our cats are part of the family and we take their care very seriously.  She was part of our family which is a rea

We were up before the birds this morning to do an airport run for a very important arrival from Sao Paolo.... We're all very excited to be together again so much so that Isla has been following Colin around like a puppy ever since... We also celebrated a belated Father's Day when we arrived home.... Isla bought Colin "Father and Daughter" Willow Tree figurine - I call it "Daddy's Girl" - how appropriate ;-)

Day 118 - Happy Father's Day

Image
Ok, maybe not day 118 but it sure feels like it - it's been a llllooonnnngggg five weeks and one day without you, dear.  We miss you so much and can't wait until we can celebrate Father's Day tomorrow starting at 5:45 a.m. - when your plane lands... Isla LOVES her daddy and daddy loves Isla! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Isla has been fighting a fever the last couple of days but thankfully a prayer is answered again and she's feeling great today - just in time to play with Daddy tomorrow!  She woke up a couple of times last night screaming but she woke up happy, bright eyed and ready to go at 11:00 a.m.!  I knew she really needed a good sleep in order to feel better and she sure got it this morning.

Day 32 - 28 Months Old & 3 Feet Tall

Image
Isla is 28 months old today and looking more and more like a little girl rather than a toddler.  She's talking more.... A bit more cheeky, OK, alot more cheeky everyday... Oh yeah, and she's finally 3 feet tall...

Day 30 - Peek-a-boo nap time

Image
I went into her room to wake her up from her nap (I don't want her sleeping longer than 1.5 hours in the afternoon).  She was snug as a bug bundled up under the duvet. ... until she heard the click of my camera ... there she is! Her hair was soaked with sweat and curly, curly, curly.... I should've got a photo of it... oh well...

Day 29 - She's been filling her time doing things like this....

Image
After I changed her, I made the mistake of leaving her for a few minutes and came back to this... Sitting on the coffee table with the change pad and wipes everywhere... I hate to think of what I could've returned too if I didn't already take care of the dirty diaper ... Silly girl with silly hair...

Day 25 - Dirty Little Monkey

Image
I thought this only happened to boys. Guess not, eh? Time for tubby-tub. Again.

Her new summer dress!  It's adorable and even sweeter on her  ;-) This is what she was doing as I was trying to take a pic! My three lovely girls!

Day 14 - Have you been gone 2 weeks already?
