Can it get any better?

We're together as a family again, the weather is sunny and warm and we just celebrated Easter - He's Risen! It's been great being together and the only time Isla has left Colin's side is to sleep.   I picked him up bright and early on Thursday morning.  He really wanted me to take her along but I just didn't have the heart to wake her up at 5 a.m..... Good thing I didn't either because his flight was late! Anyways, we're hanging out at home and making the most of the sun.  We did leave home to go to Mountsberg for the Maple Syrup Festival and it was good fun. Some photos from the last few days: Mom bought her a "new" house and she L-O-V-E-S it - $$ well spent, thanks Oma! We went for a walk down the road and guess who took off running? Pearl also came with us, bad kitty! Mountsberg Easter Egg Hunt - she picked up all the purple eggs Getting her prize By this time it was naptime ... good thing daddy was there! Did you notice Colin&

Hangin' Out Together

As I write this, the house is quiet.  The cats are asleep, Colin is asleep (and feeling ill) and Isla is still in bed.  I should be napping too but Isla awoke for a bit and that was the end of my "nap". I've been MIA from the blogging world.  We've been spending time together before Colin leaves again this weekend for Brazil.  The time he is home goes by far too quickly and I miss him already!  I think he will be back the Easter weekend. We've been keeping well for the most part.  Some good laughs and good cries, some happy moments and some moments of anxiety.  We've been through the whole realm of emotions and sickness but we'll get through and focus on the good for now.  We've come to expect plans that go amiss and to be honest, I don't understand why but I pray that His plan will be done.  Maybe I've been taking advantage of the good and haven't noticed them as much but there always seems to be something "bad" going on.  I ca

He blew in, he blew out...

Dear Diary, My beloved flew back to us last Friday for a quick visit before blowing out to the UK for a month or so. The poor boy flew out of Denver at 8 a.m. and didn't arrive in Toronto via Charlotte N.C. until 6:30 p.m. What a long, tiring day but he still had enough strength to give his Isla all the hugs she needed! On Saturday we organized a Vandenberg family outing to Rockwood Conservation Area just outside of Guelph for a bit of canoeing and bbq'ing in the afternoon and evening. We couldn't all be there for various reasons but for those who were there, we had a good time, I think. Colin and I rented a canoe and so did the "orphans', namely, Emily, Benjamin and Matthew. Their dad was in Ohio for business and their poor mother was at home very sick with a bad chest cold. Hope you're feeling better soon, Loretta, we missed you! The orphans with Matthew in charge (scary!) Me, sittin pretty but I did paddle abit when ordered by you-know-who... Yup, him, my be

From Ontario

Dear Diary, This post has been in the making for a week now, I just haven't time to post it. Sorry, no photos, the camera isn't downloading for some reason. Isla and I arrived in Ontario late last Wednesday evening. She was really good on the flight. We booked her a seat in order for me to have a free hand now and again. She sat in her carseat most of the time and she even slept a bit but not much. Colin is still in Denver and will be arriving here next week Friday before heading back to the UK for a month or two. Isla and I may join him, we're not sure yet. We've been busy though. I'm trying to arrange OHIP (Ontario Health Insurance), Canadian citizenship and a Canadain passport for Isla and I've run into the bureaucracy wall. I hate doing this! We're not sure how long we'll be in Ontario but I wanted to try to get her OHIP so she can visit the doctor and get up to date on her vaccinations. Her last visit was in May in Larne for her three month vaccinat

Meet 'n' Greet

Dear Diary, The days since Colin has left for Denver have been passing by quickly and we have had lots of family and friends popping by to say hi and to meet Isla. Auntie Aaf Aunt Jane ... and Isla even made a new friend, little Maiya! Maiya is 6 weeks older than Isla and is the daughter of my friend Karen. Isla also got a cuddle from Maiya's mommy... At least I didn't have to worry Karen stealing her :-) And I should mention that she gets an occasional daily hug from her Oma too... We are settling in just fine to our own routine without Colin (sorry dear, but we really do miss you) and as I mentioned before, Pearl and Dixie have made themselves at home with Ziggy. I found Dixie since my last post, in Isla's bed... ... bad kitty... Pearl is good as always and snuggled up on the softest spot in the house, Mom's sheepskin rug... Colin has been interviewing and house hunting this weekend and we may no longer be homeless by Monday - woohoo!. If we decide to rent

We've arrived safely....

Dear Diary, I know, it's been a long time and I cannot begin to tell you how many times I've been told, "I checked the blog but NOTHING new has been added!". Well, we've been busy, very busy and sadly the blog hasn't been my first priority. I'll start by recapping the last couple of weeks. Colin was in Denver for almost three weeks and arrived home in Larne on Saturday, May 17. Pretty much from the time he came home until we left on the 22nd we were swamped but THANK YOU very much to everyone who helped us in so many ways and even after we left. It was an overwhelming challenge for us two alone and we appreciate all the help and support we recieved. The house is still for sale so feel free to make us an offer..... The house was packed up by Pickfords on Tuesday and it took 4 or 5 hours to finish. Our stuff is now somewhere in England and will be making it's way over to Mom and Dad's barn shortly. We spent Wednesday cleaning and visiting and since w
