February

Just so you know, it's my plan not to post as often as I did when I originally started this blog.

One reason being, Isla doesn't allow photos nearly as often as she did 10 years ago ... Fair enough...

Which leads me to the big news, her birthday.  13.

See the previous post and while there was no party or Mandarin birthday dinner she did see her Oma and we spent time with Aunt Lynn and Uncle Jim while enjoying Chinese take out (even better than Manadrin).

As for Colin, what is he up to?  Spoiling the cats, mainly Izzy, the world's most annoying and talkative cat (she also broke my dishwasher a few weeks ago).  She's a 'daddy's girl' now that Isla is 'too big' for that role (no, not really, once a daddy's girl, always a daddy's girl!).  He's been trying to get Isla and I to play checkers but neither of us are really interested.  Together, Colin and I watched the Queen's Gambit on Netflix and that peaked mild interest in chess but he thought we should start with checkers.  So far, no chess or checkers for that matter..

Poor guy, check out the Covid haircut.

He's working hard, elder tasks and chiropractor visits take up most of his days.  He's been visiting a chiropractor for the last few months due to arthritis in his back and a stiff neck.  His neck appears much better but the back will require more work so until then, 3x treatments a week for him.

Isla is back to school and she is so happy!  It's tough and lonely being a single child when we're in lock-down and virtual school.  She has been in virtual school since the beginning of January but has returned with has two new teachers - one for English subjects in the morning (math, etc.) and one for French subjects (Geography, History, etc) in the afternoon.  Thankfully this is her 4th and last class shuffle of the year.  So many students have opted for full-time virtual school so the School Board is constantly shuffling in-school teachers and students around.  She is a resilient student and takes it all in stride and stays positive - she has the same group of friends and classroom so she is not complaining.  There is nothing we can do about it, it's just the season of the Covid era and the board and teachers are all doing their best to keep school as normal and safe as possible.

Me: Not much new.  Still working evenings from home. Doing laundry, more laundry and cleaning after the cats and Colin. Dreaming of my summer garden and all the beautiful plants that will grow. Life is
good😁

We celebrated Family Day on the 15th with half the neighborhood on the ice rink in the park behind our house.  It's been good fun but next year, I need new skates since Isla is now wearing mine.  Even Colin is thinking about getting a pair.  Watch for that...

And from three furry freeloaders that live with us, this is what they do most of the day especially on sunny afternoons <meow>

Yes, I know Penny is a big girl - I've tried cutting her food down but all that happened was Izzy got smaller - I give up 😖

That is it from our corner of the world.  Looking forward to what God has in store for us in March and beyond.

Stay safe, wear your mask!

'Til next time, Colin, Heather & Isla
